Eggs - Yum!

Feb. 22, 2009

On this day, we decided to try some scrambled eggs since our growing girl needs her protein! Mackenzie played with a pot and spoon in the floor of the kitchen while I made her eggs and she thoroughly enjoyed that! I have video of her making lots of noise, but I'll have to upload that another day since Blogspot doesn't seem to do that very efficiently.

At first, she wasn't quite sure whether the eggs were a toy or food. Then, when she figured out that it was food, I'm not sure how she felt about that! But she got the hang of it and was gobbling them down in no time!

After our busy day of playing in the kitchen and trying eggs, Mackenzie was pooped and took a nap on Daddy, which made his day. He loves his girl!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Feb. 14, 2009

Happy First Valentine's Day Mackenzie!!! You had a wonderful day and really enjoyed your gifts! Mommy and Daddy got you this cute red teddy bear along with the book, "How Do I Love You?". You really enjoyed reading the book, but mostly you just liked biting the tag on the bear. :) We love you so much! We even got a short video (below) and it sums up just how cute you were all day!

Visiting

Feb. 3, 2009

We went to Red's to visit with Red, Jami, Ethan, Weepaw, and Uncle Trey. We ate DELICIOUS food and had lots of fun! Weepaw and Aunt JJ played puppets with Mackenzie and she loved it! The giggles that came out of this little girl were too cute. Uncle Trey let her wear his Hurley hat which I think he enjoyed just as much as she did!

Heartbroken

A week or so ago, I came across the Mac's blog by reading about them on the Boyd family's blog. Their story was very sad and emotional for me, especially as a new mom, because their daughter, Cora Paige, who looks to be maybe a year old, has cancer and is receiving chemo treatments and having surgeries almost daily. Over the past week, as I have prayed for Cora and her family, I thanked God over and over for Mackenzie's health.

Today at lunch, I checked blog updates on my phone and I was heart broken to learn that Cora passed away yesterday. Even writing this now is very hard - I do not know this family personally, but in my heart, I feel as though I do. Please pray for them to have strength and courage during this time.

Leg Warmers

Mackenzie,

Tonight while Daddy was watching the Super Bowl with friends, we hung out and played at the house. I put you in these adorable leg warmers that your Nonna had gotten you a few months ago. There are no words for how cute you looked, so I am posting a lot of pictures!! You are obviously feeling better because you were all over the living room, rolling around, trying to crawl and jumping up and down when I held you! I was starting to think I had given you Mountain Dew instead of your antibiotics!! It was so much fun and we had Nonna on the webcam so that she could play too! you were talking non-stop to her and giggling at her whenever she talked to you.

I still think you will be crawling very soon! You have a half-way crawl going on, but you are not fully on your hands and knees with your belly off the floor so I cannot technically call it crawling yet. You will be there soon though!

I had so much fun with you tonight and I love you more than you know! You are so beautiful! Muah!!

Church with Aunt E

Matt and I have been scouting out a church that we would like to start attending regularly. Today we went with Aunt E to try out the Summit Church. We really, really enjoyed it - Matt and I joked that they must have written this morning's sermon knowing that we were coming. God works in mysterious ways!

Anyway, it was a wonderful sermon, the atmosphere was very comfortable and the music was great. We especially loved the children's center. It was amazing and I think Mackenzie had a good time...well, as good of a time as you can have when you're 7 months old! We are going to try it again next week!

After church, we ate with Erin at T.G.I.Friday's and it was delicious! Then we went back to Erin's so that Mackenzie could play with her favorite puppy - Izzy! Matt and I still can't believe how excited Mackenzie gets when she sees Izzy. She just giggles uncontrollably and let's out this grunting/growling noise! It's hysterical!

Napping with Daddy

Dear Mackenzie,

Saturday afternoon we had plans to go to lunch, do a little shopping, and stop by your Nan and Pops' house. Before we left, Daddy fed you a bottle and then you decided that it was time to take a nap! Then, Daddy fell asleep too! I let you both sleep for awhile, but soon it was time to go. I just wanted to remember this because it was a very sweet sight. He loves you so much and so do I!
