Christmas Card Pictures...not!

This past weekend was the weekend that I was going to get a PERFECT picture of Mackenzie in her adorable Christmas outfit so that we can use it on a Christmas card...well, it was suppose to be anyway.

Mom and I took Mackenzie to Erin's house where there were two beautiful trees just waiting to have someone take a picture in front of them! We even had help from Tom, Brenda, Erin, AND Izzy Parker! But no...it was not meant to be.

Now, please don't misunderstand - Mackenzie was looking very cute in her outfit. It's just that there were no smiles! Well, maybe one or two, but we didn't catch them on camera. Plus, she has a new face she's trying out where she sticks her tongue out and then chews on it a little - she looks like a very cute monkey with this face. But that is not the face of a Christmas card picture.

Hopefully we will be able to get some cute pictures when we have our tree up and decorated - I just don't want to wait too long because I'd like to send the cards out within the next couple of weeks.

Matt and I got our first Christmas tree last night from my mom - thanks so much Mom!! - and we are putting it up this week. Hopefully we will have it up before the Thanksgiving holidays and the Razorbacks have us away from the house for a few days. Realistically though, it will probably be this weekend.

Maybe, just maybe, we will get some smiles then!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

So...I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but I'm SO excited about Christmas (notice the new background!) Not just because it's my favorite holiday, but because it's Mackenzie's first Christmas and that seems to make it so much sweeter!!

We took a few pictures of Mackenzie in a cute little Christmas outfit....she didn't like it at first. I don't know if it was the outfit or the danger time-zone between 6 and 7:30. Anyway, here's some of the pics we took:

Mackenzie is 5 months old

Wow - how time flies!!

Mackenzie, you are five months old today! You have your own personality and you are so sweet! You just recently started putting your arms around our neck and "hugging" us when we pick you up. It's one of the best feelings I've ever felt.

You are all smiles in the morning when you first wake up. These days you are going to bed between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. and waking up between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. Even though it's early and we are still waking up ourselves, Daddy and I really look forward to getting you out of your crib because you are so sweet!!! You are definitely a "morning baby" and lately when you wake up, you just play and talk by yourself until Mommy or Daddy gets in there to get you out. One day last week you just talked and talked to Larry (your turtle-shaped “music aquarium” that’s attached to your crib which you LOVE!) for about 20 minutes. It’s so cute!

You are still growing like a weed! You are still in 3-6 month size clothes. Your 3-6 month sleepers are starting to fit a little snug, but some of your pants are still just the right size! You have more clothes than any little girl I know and when we look in your closet to pick out clothes for the day, you like to reach out and touch them.

You are very aware of everything around you the last few days. You like to look at everything and touch everything! You really like touching Mommy and Daddy’s faces!! You’re passing things like your rattle and teething rings from one hand to the other and you think that’s really fun. You also like to watch your hands when you grab and touch things. You are so smart and you continue to amaze me!

Tummy time is still a lot of fun for you. You still haven’t mastered laying with your face to the side – you would rather lay face down! You’re also still working on rolling over to your back after you’ve had enough fun on your tummy. You’re getting so strong on your tummy and you can push yourself up. You even inch forward sometimes when you’re trying to get to a toy. Daddy is convinced that you will be crawling soon!

You’re also sitting up by yourself when you’re propped up with your hands in front of you and you can sit like that for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. It’s adorable!

Mackenzie – we love you so much and I can’t even begin to describe the amount of joy you bring to our lives. I can’t imagine life without you and I pray that you continue to grow and learn every day!

MUAH!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Family Day

Today we had a wonderful day of hanging out and just enjoying family! For the second time EVER, Matt and I took Mackenzie out to lunch. She was a sleepy girl so she slept most of the time, but when she did wake up, she was all smiles! It was adorable!

We went to visit with Nonna, Aunt JJ and Uncle Scottie who was in town from Fayetteville for the weekend. It was lots of fun to catch up and relax. Then, Mackenzie stayed with Nonna to hang out and I did a little grocery shopping while Matt watched football.

We finished it up with dinner, bath time, bedtime, and our Sunday shows "True Blood" and "Entourage"...well, I watched the shows and Matt watched Dallas. :)

All in all, it was a wonderful, relaxing day!

Dinnertime

Tonight Mackenzie decided that she wanted to feed herself. Well...actually, we attempted to feed her and she was playing with her tongue more than usual which made feeding her impossible to do! So, after about 20 minutes of trying to feed her, we let her do it herself and as you can see above, she LOVED it!! It was the biggest mess I've ever seen (so far....) and it was so worth it.

Afterwards, she laughed and laughed at me being silly which was wonderful because up until this point, we had to tickle her to death to even get close to hearing her laugh!

Mackenzie - you are becoming more of your own little person and Mommy and Daddy are infatuated! You're the coolest kid we know and we love you soooo much! Muah!

Daycare Outfit

So, Mackenzie has been in the habit lately of at least twice a week, dirtying her diaper SO BAD that she has to be changed into an entirely new outfit! Well, this past week it happened once more than expected because when the daycare ladies went to change her into something else...they didn't have anything! We had already taken all of her extras home earlier to wash. So, they had to throw something together. This was the result....

Solid Foods with Daddy

Well, the doctor suggested that we started trying "solid foods" 3 times a day just to get Mackenzie use to eating "solids" from a spoon. I am putting "solids" in quotations because when I hear solids, I think of bread, apples, etc....you know, SOLID food. Well in baby world, this just means pureed food. The "solids" I'm thinking about is now referred to as table foods. You learn something new every day! :)

So, we are doing cereal and formula in the morning and at lunch and at dinner, Mackenzie gets some baby food. Sunday night (Nov. 9) we started a new "solid" food for the week - sweet potatos! Mackenzie L-O-V-E-D them!! As you can see in the pictures below, she had a wonderful time with Daddy and really just wanted to feed herself! She is so independent and I love that! She had good food and didn't make a mess at all!...yeah right!

Beautiful Girl

Mackenzie, you are so unbelievably beautiful! Daddy and I could just stare at you for hours! You are growing and getting a little personality of your own. We absolutely adore you and you are doing new tricks all the time! Not only are you rolling over, but when we let you pull on our fingers, you pull yourself into a sitting position and can sit by yourself when holding yourself up with your hands in front of you. It's one of the cutest things I've ever seen! You've also learned how to shake a rattle and you have even started passing things back and forth between your hands. It's fascinating to watch you while you learn new things and see new things.

You're still talking, but it's on a different level now. Any time you have your teething ring in your mouth, you just babble on and on...it's wonderful! You're also starting to laugh a little with less work from Mommy and Daddy - we still have to tickle you pretty good to get it out of you, but it's worth it! You are also still sleeping through the night when you are able to stick to your schedule! You have been waking up a few nights a week at 3 or 4 am, but we think it's because you're belly is growing and you get hungry! You're also still teething which can make for a fussy day every now and then!

We love you so much Mackenzie! You are so amazing and we can't wait to see what you will do next. Thanksgiving and Christmas are going to be so much fun! :)

Here are some pictures of you from this past Sunday (Nov. 9) being as cute as a button!!!

Mackenzie's 4 Month Check-up

We had Mackenzie's four month check up on Friday, Nov. 7. She is 15 pounds, 14 ounces and 25 inches long. You have grown so much! You also had your four month shots which you did not enjoy AT ALL! But lucky for us, we thought ahead and had a bottle ready to give you as soon as it was over which you were grateful for. You slept a lot at daycare the rest of the day and were a little fussy the next day, but we were very proud of you for being a big girl. For the record, these shots went MUCH better than the 2 month shots! :)

Visit from Weepaw

Weepaw and Red came to visit Saturday, Nov. 8. Mackenzie sat with him in the man-chair and enjoyed some football! Good times!

Happy Birthday Matt!!!

November 6, 2008 was a big day! Matt turned 25 years old! We had dinner at Erin's with her and his parents and it was wonderful! Matt got a grill from his parents, a gift certificate to Fort Thompson for hunting stuff from Erin, and a weekend in the deer woods, a $50 purchase at Archer's Advantage (more hunting stuff!), plus dinner and a movie from Mackenzie and I! We had a good time! Here are some pics of Matt and Mackenzie celebrating!

Watts, Donovan & Tilley, P.A.

Well, I am officially an employee of Watts, Donovan & Tilley, P.A. They are a law firm located in the Arkansas Capital Commerce Center Building in the River Market. I have been there for one week - I started November 6 - and I absolutely LOVE it! The office is in a great location, they have great benefits and they have a wonderful staff!

Check them out: Watts, Donovan & Tilley, P.A.

I know that you may be confused because it wasn't long ago that I reported starting a job at a different law firm. Well...that one didn't work out (obviously) and I have moved on! I am super excited about this new job and I really think this could be the place where make my career in the legal field!

Yay for me!!!

Tummy Time

Tummy time is officially "all the time". We can't even keep Mackenzie on her back anymore - she is constantly rolling over to her tummy! Here are some pictures of her enjoying play time!

Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

Well, wedding planning is going good - we have set a date! Everyone mark your calendars -

On September 26, 2009 Matt and I will be married in Fayetteville (where we started dating - awwww) at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. I got to make a quick trip to check it all out and it's going to be awesome. I was very grateful to have my girls with me to check it all out - thanks Mary and Kelli for taking some time out of your very busy schedules to be my extra eyes!

This is the Peace Arbor that Matt and I be married under. It's BEAUTIFUL!!!

Carving Pumpkins

Matt, Mackenzie and I went to Red's to carve pumpkins with the rest of the fam on Oct. 26! It was lots of fun - even though I did give up on my complicated design. Matt finished it for me and it turned out good. We didn't get a bunch of pictures, but we did get at least one good one (see below). I would also like to note that Mackenzie was in an ADORABLE outfit from her Nonna that was very Halloween-y, but she dirtied her diaper AND her outfit! That's why she's in a sleeper for the Halloween pic. :( Oh well...there's always next year. :)
